Independent measurement · August 2026
The paver contractors ChatGPT actually recommends.
Homeowners don't just search anymore — they ask ChatGPT who to see. So we measured the answer. We asked for the best paver contractor in 12 U.S. metros, 4 different ways each — 48 checks in all — and recorded every company it named.
Only 59%
of the 564 U.S. paver contractors we benchmarked ever came up. These are the ones homeowners are told to see.

Measured August 21, 2026 on ChatGPT (gpt-4o, with web search): 12 metros × 4 question phrasings = 48 checks. No other AI system is included in these numbers. How we measured it
One difference from most boards in this network, stated plainly: every question here was asked twice, not once. Only 30% of the company-and-question pairs named on the first ask were named again on the second. Because asking twice finds more names, a company has to be named in at least 3 of the 4 questions — on both asks — to be listed here, where most of our boards list at 2.
The most recommended paver contractors, metro by metro
Every metro below was benchmarked the same way: 4 homeowner-style questions, every answer recorded. Pick your city to see the full measured list.
ChatGPT's answer moves between checks, so we publish how many of the 4 checks named each one instead of a rank that would change if we asked again.

Before you call anyone
What the work costs, what homeowners ask us most, and tools that give you a number in about a minute. Nothing here is a sales page and nothing asks for your phone number.
What things cost
Real price ranges for the work homeowners ask about most, with every figure traced back to a named source.
- How much does a paver patio cost?HomeGuide publishes $10 to $17 per square foot installed for a paver patio — $1,400 to $2,500 for a 12x12. The by-size table, the labor and materials split, what the base costs, and the paver material prices.
- How much does a 20x20 paver patio cost?HomeGuide publishes $3,800 to $6,800 installed for a 20x20 paver patio — 400 square feet at $10 to $17. What the number is made of, how it compares with a 20x20 concrete slab, and what a 30x30 runs.
- How much does paver sealing cost?HomeGuide publishes $1.50 to $3.25 per square foot to clean and seal pavers; Angi reads about $2. The by-job-size table, solvent versus water-based sealer prices, what the job includes, and the DIY figure.
- How much does a paver patio with a fire pit cost?HomeGuide publishes $2,200 to $6,800 for a patio with a fire pit and $325 to $2,000 for the custom pit alone. The patio by size, the pit by width and fuel, and the seating wall that can cost more than both.
Common questions
Straight answers, written for the person paying — not a lead form and not a sales page.
- What do professionals use to seal pavers?Professionals seal pavers with products made for concrete pavers — solvent-based acrylics for gloss, water-based emulsions and silane/siloxane penetrants for a breathable, matte finish — per the CMHA. What each does, what pros avoid, and the one brand a paver maker names.
- What time of year is best to seal pavers?A mild, dry day between about 50 and 90 degrees, with no rain for a day or two either side — Belgard's and Angi's published windows. Why that is spring or fall in most of the country and late winter in Florida, and the waits that matter more than the month.
- Can I seal my pavers myself?Yes — Angi prices a DIY clean-and-reseal at about $220 against $400 for a pro on a 200-square-foot patio. The steps the manufacturers publish, the mistakes the trade association says whiten a patio, and the one job it says to leave to a pro.
- What is cheaper, concrete or pavers?Concrete is cheaper to pour and pavers are cheaper to repair. HomeGuide's published per-square-foot rates for a plain slab, stamped concrete and pavers, the 20x20 totals, and the driveway comparison.
- Why are pavers so expensive?HomeGuide prices the pavers at $2 to $4 per square foot and the patio at $10 to $17. Its published breakdown of where the rest goes — excavation, base, sand, compaction and a crew that lays 100 square feet a day.
- Does a paver patio increase home value?HomeGuide publishes a 69% return on investment for a paver patio or walkway. What that figure means, what it does not, the cost it is measured against, and the maintenance a buyer will ask about.
- Is there a downside to sealing pavers?Yes, and the trade association names them: a white haze when moisture is trapped, reduced traction on glossy sealers, and a recurring bill. What the CMHA, Belgard and Techniseal say sealing does and does not do, and whether pavers need it at all.

Measured, never sold.
No paver contractor can pay to appear on these lists. A company is listed only because ChatGPT actually recommended it when we asked — more than once. We publish how many of the checks named each one, not a place, because the count holds up when we ask again and a place doesn't. That's the whole formula.

How did you measure which U.S. paver contractors ChatGPT recommends?
We asked ChatGPT the questions real homeowners ask — like "Who is the best paver contractor near me?" — 4 different ways, and recorded every company recommended. Each company on this list was named in more than one of those answers, and we publish how many named it rather than a place in a ranking — ask ChatGPT again and the top name often changes, but the count holds. We ran 48 checks for this market and compared the answers against the 564 U.S. companies in our dataset.
Can a paver contractor pay to be on this list?
No. This list is measured, never sold. A company appears on it only if ChatGPT actually recommended it when we asked. Money cannot buy a place on this list. Sponsored blocks are labeled advertising and sit outside the ranked list.
What does it mean if a company is NOT on this list?
It means that when we asked ChatGPT for a paver contractor in U.S., that company never came up. That says nothing about the quality of their work — only that homeowners who ask AI for a recommendation are being sent somewhere else. Most companies haven't shown up in AI answers yet, so the list is short.
How often is this updated?
We re-run the same benchmark quarterly with the same methodology, so companies that improve their AI visibility can appear in the next update. This edition was measured in August 2026.
What if something on this page about my company is wrong?
Tell us at /corrections and we will check it against the source. A wrong name, phone number, address, licence or service is a defect and we fix it. A ranking is different: it is a measurement of what ChatGPT answered, so it is never for sale and by the same rule never removable or editable on request. A number you can talk us out of would not be worth publishing.
